Who are the biggest mischief-makers in pop culture? In one corner we have Loki (Tom Hiddleston) from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is the actual god of mischief, tried to take over the world, turned into a snake to sting his brother, loves to solve all kinds of problems. In the other corner we have a Bartholomew J. Simpson: Prince of Pranks, El Barto, Skinner’s Bane.
With Disney owning both the Marvel and 20th Century studios, it’s no surprise that these two famous mischief-makers are teaming up in an upcoming short film from the studio. We’re going to see Loki & Bart Simpson do what they do best. Or, well, bringing out the worst in each other. Anyway, we’re sure Homer Simpson won’t be the same at the end.
So when can we see this upcoming short film from Marvel? How will Loki and Bart Simpson work together? Will Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as Loki in the short film? Will it air on Disney+ or will it appear in theaters before a Disney movie? Here’s absolutely everything you need to know about the upcoming movie.
The short film is called “The Good, the Bart, and the Loki”, a play on the classic western The good the bad and the ugly. Details about the shorts have been kept to a minimum, but you can see a poster above. It sure looks like Lisa Simpson is going to be Thor. So, you know, good for her. according to THAT, yes, that’s real and real Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki in brief.
The premise follows Loki “as he is banished from Asgard and must face his toughest adversaries yet: the Simpsons and Springfield’s mightiest heroes. Loki is teaming up with Bart in the crossover event, which promises to pay tribute to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” This isn’t the first time the House of Mouse has crossed over The Simpsons with other IPs.
There was another short circuit that saw The Simpsons Meet Star Wars with “The power awakens from its nap”. Whether or not this will align with the Loki series remains to be seen. But who knows, this could be an animated Loki variant. The possibilities are really endless with that little treat. “The Good, the Bart, and the Loki” will be released on Disney+ on July 7.
Will this be good?
Listen, maybe. Later stage Simpsons is hit and miss at the best of times, but Tom Hiddleston always brings him A-game as Loki. Did he give the short film writers a Loki lecture? Probably not. We are so curious about that Loki Lecture. Just film that and make it a bonus episode Loki. Come on, Marvel, we’re all so curious to see exactly what it’s all about.
Still, you can’t find two more naughty characters than Loki and Bart Simpson. Who knows what havoc the pair will wreak throughout Springfield (and maybe even the Nine Realms). But honestly, we’re more curious to see if other Asgard-based Marvel actors, like Chris Hemsworth, will be making an appearance soon. Either way, it promises to be a fun time for everyone involved.
Do you think “The Good, the Bart, and the Loki” is a good idea for an upcoming Marvel short film? What did you think of “The Force Awakens from Its Nap”? What other Disney properties should be crossed with? The Simpsons? Is Loki an animated variant of? Loki? Do you think Tom Hiddleston would give his voice to play Loki again in a Marvel animated movie?
