Overview
Sardar Udham is a 2021 Indian biographical drama film directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP Movies. The film stars Vicky Kaushal as Sardar Udham Singh, an Indian revolutionary who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, in London in 1940, to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919.
The film begins with Udham Singh as a young boy in Amritsar, witnessing the horrific massacre of hundreds of unarmed protesters by British troops led by General Reginald Dyer. This event leaves a deep impression on Udham and he vows to avenge the deaths of those who were killed.

Sardar Udham Story
The film begins with Udham (known as Sher Singh) being released from prison at Punjab in British India. He is constantly being watched by the colonial authorities. He leaves India and goes to USSR during what appears to be winter. From there he makes his way to London by ship.
In London, Udham works as a gardener and spends his time reading about Indian history and politics. He also visits the Jallianwala Bagh massacre memorial and is deeply affected by the experience. He decides to assassinate O’Dwyer, who was the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab at the time of the massacre and had justified the killings.
Udham tracks down O’Dwyer and shoots him dead at a public event. He is arrested and tried for murder, but is acquitted on the grounds of insanity. He is then deported back to India, where he is imprisoned for the rest of his life.
