Overview
Baahubali: The Beginning is a 2015 Indian epic action drama film written and directed by S. S. Rajamouli. It stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishnan, and Sathyaraj. The film is set in the fictional kingdom of Mahishmati and follows the story of Baahubali (Prabhas), a brave and adventurous warrior who is raised by a tribal community. When he learns of his true identity and the injustice that has been done to his family, he sets out to avenge his father’s death and restore peace to Mahishmati.
The film begins with a woman named Sivagami (Ramya Krishnan) fleeing the kingdom of Mahishmati with her infant son, Mahendra Baahubali. She is pursued by soldiers loyal to her brother, Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati), who has usurped the throne and murdered her husband. Sivagami manages to escape and takes refuge with a tribal community, where she raises Baahubali as her own son.
Baahubali grows up to be a strong and skilled warrior. He is also kind and compassionate, and he quickly becomes a beloved figure among the tribal people. One day, Baahubali meets Avantika (Tamannaah), a rebel warrior who is fighting against Bhallaladeva’s rule. Avantika is impressed by Baahubali’s strength and courage, and she asks for his help in rescuing Devasena (Anushka Shetty), a princess who has been imprisoned by Bhallaladeva.
Baahubali agrees to help Avantika, and they set out on a journey to Mahishmati. Along the way, they face many challenges, but they also learn more about Baahubali’s true identity and the injustice that has been done to his family. When they finally reach Mahishmati, Baahubali must decide whether to use his strength and power to avenge his father’s death or to find a more peaceful solution.
Baahubali: The Beginning is a visually stunning film with an epic scope. The action sequences are thrilling and the performances are top-notch. The film is a must-see for fans of Indian cinema and action films in general.
The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over ₹1000 crore (US$130 million) worldwide. It was the highest-grossing Indian film of all time until it was surpassed by its sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, in 2017.
